What is a writer’s block really?

The ancient greeks thought that there was a higher power (the Gods) responsible for everything that happened here down on Earth. Things like weather, life and death, motivation and deciding what to wear in the morning (probably not, but you get the idea).  They used this notion to explain the unexplainable.

Standing by this theory, I ask the question: what is a writer’s block?

It could be someone or something giving you a sign that you are on the wrong path or even worse – a doomed path…

No really, I think that it’s your mind telling you to take a break. Just give yourself a breather and take some time away from your writing, sort of like a time-out. Go for a walk, read a book, or take a week long vacation to Italy (can I come?). Seriously though, do something not related at all to your writing. This is my tip and it has worked for me so far.

What do you do to get over a writer’s block?

Any Thoughts?
